What is an Emergency?

If you smell gas, do not attempt to locate the leak. Instead, leave the house or building right away. Do not turn on or off any electrical switches, appliances, or lights, as an electrical charge could create a spark. When you are in a safe place, call the Peoples emergency hotline.

West Virginia Customers Can Get Help With Your Bills

WV customers can apply for utility assistance from CARES funding.

On October 1, 2020, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice notified utility companies that the state of West Virginia had allocated $25 million in CARES Act funds to help with utility bills for households that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. If you have been negatively impacted by COVID-19, this funding is there to help. Peoples has mailed a CARES application to all eligible West Virginia customers. We will submit a request to the state of West Virginia to obtain assistance on your behalf for the amount shown on the application. Please note the amount shown on the attached application is not your full account balance. It is the eligible amount for this special assistance program.

Customers should also keep in mind that submitting your application does not guarantee payment from the state of West Virginia.

You may submit your application in one of the following ways:

1. Email to PeoplesHelps@peoples-gas.com.

2. Return to Peoples using the envelope provided.

3. Fax to: 412-258-2935

Your application must be submitted by November 2, 2020.
