Future Projects

Our long-term infrastructure improvement plan includes upgrading mainline and service lines throughout the 18 Western Pennsylvania counties we serve. We are replacing approximately 200 miles of pipeline per year, so you may notice construction happening in your area.

We strive to keep you informed about the construction process, including what to expect before, during, and after our pipeline upgrades.

Each of our projects displayed on the map is color-coded, based on its status. Here’s a list of each status by color, so you know where we are with a specific project at-a-glance:

Construction Map

Use the interactive map below to check our planned and ongoing construction schedule by entering an address or zooming in on a specific location. Highlighted routes provide project details, and statuses are color-coded for clarity.

Please note that this map is tentative. Timing of projects may change based on weather or other factors. Emergency repairs take priority and are not reflected on this map.

Will my gas be turned off during construction work?

Depending on the type of work that we are doing near your home or business, there might be a period that your gas will be off so that we can complete service upgrades safely and efficiently. Before your service is temporarily turned off, Peoples employees will inform you of any interruption that might occur and explain the process to you, including an estimate of how long your gas will be off. Once your gas service is turned back on, we will re-light any appliances either at that time or when you request an appointment. We answer these calls 24/7.

What happens if my interior or exterior piping and/or appliances are deemed unsafe to re-light and restore service?

If our employee visits your home and notices that an appliance or customer-owned piping is unsafe, he or she cannot re-light the appliance. Instead, the employee will fix a red safety tag to the appliance or section of pipe. You will have to call a qualified professional to fix the appliance before the appliance can be used again, in order to ensure your safety. If your exterior customer-owned service line fails the safety test, we will replace the line at no charge to you.

Should I be home during construction?

If your service is temporarily interrupted due to construction on your street, or if we need to conduct pressure testing on your natural gas pipelines, we will schedule an appointment with you in advance. We’ll ensure you understand your responsibilities and the work that will be conducted.

How does construction impact parking?

“No Parking” signs will be posted in advance in and around our job sites. Depending on the type of project, the parking restrictions vary in duration. Please take notice and comply with all “No Parking” and street markings to avoid penalty.

How will I know if you're working in my area?

Please refer to the project map above to determine if we will be doing construction work in your area. Please note that the map highlights our planned pipeline upgrade projects, but there .there may be work for emergency repairs or pipeline expansion projects that are not shown on this map. We will always communicate with impacted customers and neighbors. For more on the communications process during construction please click here.

Who can I contact if I have questions about construction projects in my area?

If you have additional questions that are not addressed on our Construction pages, you can speak with our on-site project inspector. Or, call 1-800-764-0111 or contactus@peoples-gas.com to reach the Peoples Customer Service Department. They are able to relay questions to the project supervisors.
