Gas leaks, an odor of gas, damaged lines, and carbon monoxide symptoms are all considered emergencies. If you have an emergency, call our emergency hotline at 1-800-400-4271 . Our personnel are ready to assist you 24/7. When in doubt, call us immediately. 

If you smell gas, do not attempt to locate the leak. Instead, leave the house or building right away. Do not turn on or off any electrical switches, appliances, or lights, as an electrical charge could create a spark. When you are in a safe place, call the Peoples emergency hotline.

Peoples Gas Employee Carmen Malloy Recognized as Influential Latino Leader

Carmen Malloy, Consultant, Customer Relations Specialist for Peoples Gas, has been selected by the Latino Connection in Harrisburg, PA, as one of 2018’s 100 Pennsylvania Most Influential Latino Leaders. Awardees were recognized in a ceremony on October 12th, 2018 at WITF-FM public radio in Harrisburg.

As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Latino Connection recognizes and honors professionals for their exceptional work and leadership. Awards are given in the categories of Arts & Culture, Small Business, Non-Profits, Healthcare, Corporate Organizations, Economic Development & Finance, Government & Politics, Education, Trail Blazers & Influencers and Community.

Carmen was honored in the Corporate Organizations category. In her role as Customer Relations Specialist for Peoples, her primary responsibilities include special needs case management and programs designed to help individuals with limited incomes in satisfying their energy needs.

Carmen is well known in Pittsburgh’s non-profit community, serving as president of the executive board of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and sitting on the YWCA Greater Pittsburgh Community Advisory Committee. Carmen is also active with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh and is a member of Saint Richards’ Guatemala Mission group whose focus is to support an orphanage in Patzún, Guatemala.

In 2017, Carmen was honored for her commitment to the community by the Pittsburgh Steelers and National Football League (NFL) as the recipient of the "NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award" and also received the Pittsburgh Magazine “Spirit of Giving Award.” In 2016, she was recognized by the Talk Minority Action Group, who presented her with the “Minority Achiever’s Award" as featured in Talk Magazine.

“We are so proud of Carmen and her ongoing work, both here at Peoples and in the community,” said Rita Black, Director, Customer Relations for Peoples. “Her compassion for others and her leadership abilities have made her an indispensable part of our team and an asset to Pittsburgh.”
