Listen Locally Downstairs: Your New Favorite Concert Series
Pittsburgh’s music scene has grown considerably over the last decade. From national headliners performing at Heinz Field, PPG Paints Arena, and Stage AE, to on-the-rise bands taking the stage at places like Brillobox and Mr. Smalls, to intimate performances at James Street Speakeasy and Club Café—this region has it all. So whether you’re ready to rock the night away at Rockin’ on the Mon or Greensburg Summer Sounds, or you’re stocking up on glow sticks for this year’s Thrival Music + Innovation Festival, you know that music is key part of the culture of this region. And we’re excited to announce that the Listen Locally Downstairs series is here to make that culture even richer.
Listen Locally Downstairs takes place on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at the Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall in Carnegie, PA. It is a happy-hour style event, but children are welcome, too! The shows feature a variety of musical styles and genres, all performed by regional musicians.
On Wednesday, April 19th, jazz vocalist Maggie Johnson and pianist Howie Alexander are teaming up for a night of jazz favorites.
On Wednesday, May 17th, singer/songwriter Morgan Erina will fill the space with her finger-picking, Indie Folk style and haunting, otherworldly voice.
You’ll feel at-ease here in this laid-back setting. From soothing blues to heartfelt Americana, the Listen Locally Downstairs series will bring you closer to the music.
“They could easily do a fabulous performance in the Music Hall. But that isn’t the point,” said Maggie Forbes, Executive Director of the Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall. "Downstairs is something different, not less."
So stop on by to relax, have a drink, chat with friends, and support talented local musicians. We invite you to forget the backstage pass, and come on Downstairs.
Doors open at 6:00pm, shows start at 6:30pm. Tickets are $10 at the door. Beverages available for a donation.
