Essential Fall for Food Banks
At Essential, Aqua and Peoples, our presence is felt locally in each state we operate. Our commitment to our communities goes beyond just supplying water, wastewater and natural gas service to our customers. Instead, we make a long-term investment in the well-being of the areas we serve. We thrive when our communities thrive, which is why we are so passionate about strengthening partnerships and participating in initiatives that make the biggest difference where it matters most.
Each year across our company, we’re proud to participate in programs and initiatives with local organizations whose missions closely align with ours. In November, we launched our second annual Fall for Food Banks initiative to help fight hunger and raise awareness of food insecurity in the communities we serve. Our team members were empowered to make connections with local food banks in their areas and participate in the initiative through a donation, food collection or volunteer event.
Across our service territory, more than 100 Essential, Aqua and Peoples team members spent over 300 hours volunteering at local community organizations, raising money, packing food and hosting collection drives.
In total, we donated more than $210,000 to nearly 30 deserving organizations and fed more than 3,000 families in need. Team members also forged lasting connections with local community partners.
Essential’s culture of employee volunteerism is designed to empower team members to make a positive impact in their region. Throughout the year, Essential-paid volunteer time supports activities including United Way programs, stream clean-ups, veterans activities, installing fire alarms, collecting essential items for families in need and more.
We’re grateful to every employee who plays such an integral role in positively impacting communities across our service territory for generations to come.
