What is an Emergency?

Gas leaks, an odor of gas, damaged lines, and carbon monoxide symptoms are all considered emergencies. If you have an emergency, call our emergency hotline at 1-800-400-4271 . Our personnel are ready to assist you 24/7. When in doubt, call us immediately.

If you smell gas, do not attempt to locate the leak. Instead, leave the house or building right away. Do not turn on or off any electrical switches, appliances, or lights, as an electrical charge could create a spark. When you are in a safe place, call the Peoples emergency hotline.

Peoples Begins Right of Way Maintenance

  •

On May 1, 2022, Peoples’ contractors will begin Right of Way maintenance work across Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky.

A "right of way" is a legal right, established by an easement or grant, to pass through land or property owned by another person. This means that Peoples and our contractors have the right to access and maintain our pipelines, even when they are on another person's property.

As part of that process, we sometimes conduct clean-up and maintenance projects along those Right of Ways to allow for easier access. That work could be anything from simple mowing, to clearing brush, to cutting down trees. The amount of work we do depends on the current condition of the Right of Way.

This year, we will be conducting maintenance work along 2,500 miles of Right of Way along our pipelines. Peoples' contractors are scheduled to begin this Right of Way maintenance work on May 1, 2022 and will continue through November 23rd, 2022. All contractors will be required to have ID. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our Customer Service Center at 1-800-764-0111.

It is important for Peoples to maintain the Right of Ways to provide safe, easy access to our pipelines. Our Right of Way maintenance work ensures that our customers, communities, and employees remain safe.
