What is an Emergency?

Gas leaks, an odor of gas, damaged lines, and carbon monoxide symptoms are all considered emergencies. If you have an emergency, call our emergency hotline at 1-800-400-4271 . Our personnel are ready to assist you 24/7. When in doubt, call us immediately. 

If you smell gas, do not attempt to locate the leak. Instead, leave the house or building right away. Do not turn on or off any electrical switches, appliances, or lights, as an electrical charge could create a spark. When you are in a safe place, call the Peoples emergency hotline.

10th Street Bridge Closed for Gas Pipeline Maintenance on August 26th


News Release. For immediate release.

PITTSBURGH, PA (August 24, 2017) – The 10th Street Bridge in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood is scheduled to be closed on Saturday, August 26th from 7:30 am to 11:30 pm. Detours will be posted.

Peoples Gas scheduled this closure to complete maintenance to the natural gas pipeline running under the bridge. This maintenance is not expected to disrupt natural gas service to any customers. Crews will reopen the bridge as soon as the maintenance is complete.

Peoples operates and maintains more than 14,000 miles of natural gas pipelines to serve more than 700,000 homes and businesses in Western PA, West Virginia, and Kentucky.
