Connecting the Dots between Education and Business
-
The Beaver County Energy and Advanced Manufacturing Partnership helps educate young adults on possible industry careers.
On November 2nd, we will join the Beaver County Energy and Advanced Manufacturing Partnership for their Energy and Manufacturing Career Day with local middle school students. This engaging day full of hands-on exhibitor presentations is crafted for young students who might be interested in careers like welding, engineering, accounting, communications, and much more. Peoples employees will be on-hand to talk to these students about possible career paths here at our company. The day will be full of real life examples and a high-energy panel that discusses career pathways in the Energy and Advanced Manufacturing industries.
We are excited to participate in this excellent opportunity to educate younger generations about the many possible future careers in our industry as well as other related fields. The vision of the Beaver County Energy and Advanced Manufacturing Partnership is to “connect the dots between education and business,” and this career day is one core piece of that puzzle. However, according to the Partnership’s website, this initiative also extends throughout the year, as community leaders, education representatives, and business and industry representatives come together to pursue three main goals:
-
For the Family/Community: Employers can communicate skills needed in certain jobs and build relationships between the education community and business and industry.
-
For the Family/Community: The Partnership can educate the individuals who influence students’ career decisions by involving parents, teachers, administrators, and guidance staff.
-
For the Schools/Students: The Partnership can influence the pursuit of High Priority Occupations (HPO) in the Energy & Advanced Manufacturing Sectors by having students gain a better understanding of the skill set and educational needs for these industries. Also, the program hopes to create student and school awareness for Post-High School opportunities (which range from apprenticeship programs to careers that require a Master’s Degree and beyond).
By opening the dialogue between businesses, educators, and parents, the Beaver County Energy and Advanced Manufacturing Partnership expands horizons for many bright, talented, and motivated students.
If you would like to learn more about this initiative, see the other programs supported by the Beaver County Energy and Advanced Manufacturing Partnership, or register for the Career Day, we encourage you to visit their website at www.energyampartnership.com, which acts as a one-stop-shop of resources for parents, students, educators, business and community partners, and anyone else with an interest in energy and manufacturing.
