H2 Summit Returns for 2nd Annual Event
The second annual Hydrogen Summit is a collaboration between Peoples Natural Gas, the Energy Innovation Center Institute, Inc., and Bedford Management Partners to position our region to be a leader in global energy innovation.
The global energy industry continues readying for a rapid and momentous transformation, driven by innovations in energy technologies and shifting social preferences for cleaner and more resilient energy.
Few fuels are hotter topics than hydrogen in this ongoing energy conversation. Hydrogen as an energy source is shifting from technology development to market activation. The second annual H2 Summit, held at the Energy Innovation Center in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will address these topics, with featured speakers including senior industry leaders and top-level executives, regulators and practitioners from around the region and country among those in attendance. Make plans to join us on Tuesday, May 23 and prepare to make hydrogen happen here.

Pittsburgh and the surrounding parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia have long been at the forefront of energy innovation. Our world-class natural gas resources, innovative university talent, forward-thinking sources of capital and skilled workforce position us to lead this energy transition.
Near-zero emissions hydrogen (clean blue and green hydrogen) has the potential to make a significant contribution to emissions reduction in the power generation, transportation and industrial sectors. Hydrogen can be burned in turbines or used in fuel cells to generate electricity, can be used in fuel cells to power electric vehicles, as a source of domestic and industrial heat and as a feedstock for industrial processes. Hydrogen may also be used to store excess energy generated by intermittent renewable electricity sources when supply exceeds demand, albeit with significant losses. The virtue of hydrogen is that it produces zero carbon emissions at the point of use.
Clean hydrogen, with near zero emissions, can make a significant contribution to the global pursuit of a lower emissions future. Blue hydrogen, derived from fossil sources, captures and stores carbon emissions through a process called steam-methane reforming.
We've summarized the process and benefits of this influential technology below:
