Supplier Diversity

Diversity is not a program; it's the way that Peoples does business.

Peoples is committed to increasing investments with small businesses owned by minorities, women, individuals with disabilities and veterans. We strongly believe in corporate social responsibility and value different ethnicities, genders, and backgrounds. We are dedicated to supporting diverse small business owners in the communities where we do business.

Supplier Diversity expands our competitive and qualified supplier base for goods and services, which fosters innovation and leads to improved supplier performance. In addition, as Peoples continues to support economic growth in our communities, our investments boost customer loyalty in those areas.

Supplier Diversity Certification Types

Small Business Enterprise (SBE)

SBE stands for Small Business Enterprise which is independently owned and operated.  Businesses can qualify under the criteria concerning number of employees, average annual receipt prescribed by the Small Business Administration. (Size standards may be found in Chapter 1 - Small Business Administration 13 CFR Part 121, Small Business Size Regulations.)

Woman Business Enterprise (WBE)

WBE stands for Woman Business Enterprise, and a WBE certification denotes that a woman (or women) has majority ownership and control of a business entity. The National Women Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC) WBE Certification Program is not an endorsement of an applicant’s goods, services, pricing or profitability.

Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)

MBE stands for Minority Business Enterprise. Ownership by minority individuals means that the business is at least 51% owned by such individuals or, in the case of a publicly-owned business, at least 51% of the stock is owned by one or more minority individuals. That is, the management and daily operations of the business are controlled by those minority group members.

According to the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), a "minority" is constituted as either a United States citizen with at least one quarter of the following heritage: Asian-Indian, Asian-Pacific, Black, Hispanic, or Native American.

To become MBE certified, please visit the NMSDC website.

Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB)

VOSB stands for Veteran Owned Small Business. A VOSB must have veteran ownership of 51% of the company. But it's not enough to be an owner just in name. You must also be in control of management and day-to-day operations within the business.
