Small Business Enterprise (SBE)
Woman Business Enterprise (WBE)
WBE stands for Woman Business Enterprise, and a WBE certification denotes that a woman (or women) has majority ownership and control of a business entity. The National Women Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC) WBE Certification Program is not an endorsement of an applicant’s goods, services, pricing or profitability.
Visit the National Women Business Owners Corporation to become WBE certified.
Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)
MBE stands for Minority Business Enterprise. Ownership by minority individuals means that the business is at least 51% owned by such individuals or, in the case of a publicly-owned business, at least 51% of the stock is owned by one or more minority individuals. That is, the management and daily operations of the business are controlled by those minority group members.
According to the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), a "minority" is constituted as either a United States citizen with at least one quarter of the following heritage: Asian-Indian, Asian-Pacific, Black, Hispanic, or Native American.
To become MBE certified, please visit the NMSDC website.
