  1. Keep your AC setting at 78 degrees.
  2. Raise the thermostat setting when you are away from home.
  3. Keep shades closed when the air conditioner is on.
  4. Clean or replace appliance filters.
  5. Install ceiling fans.
  6. Make sure ceiling fans are set to blow downward (counter clockwise).
  7. Run appliances which use large amounts of energy late in the evening.
  8. Use cold water to wash dishes and clothes.
  9. Unplug devices not in use.
  10. Turn off lights in unoccupied rooms.
